Sophia Franiak began her training at award winning studio Indy Dance Academy, then continued her studies with the prestigious Gregory Hancock Dance Theater and Expressionz Dance Center.  She then went on to receive her B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance as well as a B.A. in Psychology from Indiana University in 2024.  During her time at IU she performed in many works for IU Contemporary Dance: Sounding Bodies (Beatrice Capote), New Moves (Framing Figures, Growing Together), Journeys of Joy (Interface of Inscription), New Moves (Daughter Lost, and Dog with Shoes). She also choreographed several works for IU:  Other Mother, A Pale, Other Mother Extended, The Gremlins, and The Plants are Talking.  Performance work outside of IU includes intensives with Sancta dance, David Dorfman, and Visceral Dance.
